I hate Stadia because I see it as the death of gaming. Having games that are only playable on a streaming service makes those games impossible to save, so eventually they will die and disappear. Too many games are dying already because of an always online element, but at least now some of them can be saved if a community is dedicated enough.

Because of this exact scenario. Stadia shuts down. You lose access to games. And the hassle of refunds. That there is a refund, was actually unexpected.

I think the problem is that only a very small % of gamers have a strong and stable connection... Even if we all have internet stable and fast are indeed rare

Google is famous for doing many projects at the same time, and finally terminating them if they are not a huge success

because its unfeasable for most. Even in some western nations its almost impossible to enjoy it since you need an extremley good internet connection If you live in a nation like germany, stuff like stadia is just simply impossible.

Stadia is the ultimate drm. And when they shut down, you have lost all your progress and your games. The refund is totally unexpected. Cloud based gaming is not consumer friendly if it can't just play the game you already own with ethe saves you already have. If valve and google joined and made this about a hardware service, instead of the ultimate drm (i.e. cloud save in steam) I would have been interested.

It's not about streaming gaming but about their approach. I use another service which gives me full access to a remote computer, so I can mod the games however I like or use it for work. This allowed me to replace my noisy Windows tower PC with a cheap Linux Mini-PC. Stadia however gave you such limited access that it wasn't really useful.

On one hand, such a system allows people without the money for a powerful rig but with a decent internet connection play games they otherwise wouldn't be able to, and that's great. I'm totally in favour of more people being able to play the best games out there without having to make a big sacrifice to buy an expensive pc. On the other hand, it's the umpteenth attempt by big corporations to control the consumers. With Stadia, you don't own squat, and you have possession of nothing. Meaning you have no control over it, and the service provider is free to impose whatever they want on you or force you to stop playing. Or just plain shut down the system such as in this case. I want my game files to be on my machine, so that I can play with the game that I paid for whenever I want regardless of what kind of manipulation the AAA game industry wants to try this time. And I want the freedom to mod the crap out of my games, which I can't do if they're on a server on another continent.

People are tired of renting and not owning stuff.

STADIA IS DIING BECAUSE WORLD LIKE TO POLARISE EVERYTHING...Something Vs Something...on this case PS5 vs XBOX ...there no more space for others
10/10/22
Gamers are mostly conservatives in their views of world. They do not like the idea of newcomers or new ideas changing profoundly the gaming industry environment. Stadia wasn't a bad idea, it was just given by the wrong person

It was really good to play. Convenient and Probwas a great offer.

It's a great idea and the tech worked well. The problem was with Google known for cancelling projects didn't feel with confidence. They also entered gaming companies with such arrogance that got them laughed out of studios. The xCloud and Geforce Now models work better, even though Geforce are pricing themselves out of the market.

Stadia dies and everyone lost "their" but not actually their games. Sure stadia is issuing refunds, but it's kinda self explanatory at this point.

Lolol
10/10/22
Because people don't want to stream games.
