But that is bollocks. Ukraine can't get into NATO because it is in active conflict and border dispute on it's soil, meaning it can't enter. Otherwise Article 5 would constantly be triggered.

NATO can get involved in Ukraine with or without article 5, they simply don't do it to avoid escalations. Thats why they decided to send a shitload of weapons instead to stay in the gray area.
As a NATO member, I don't want them to join in their current state. Let them find a way to seizefire with Russia, then they can apply, join and whatever.
Getting them to apply and join NATO, so that you can join the war effort, is joining the war effort with extra steps.
