40 year old here diagnoses with severed depression 15 years ago. You are still young. Some form of depressions go away with medication, some like manic depression (bipolar) need higher care. I don't know if you have insurance or not, but if you do, see a psycbiatrist and psychotherapist if this gets worst. Usually a combination of medication, therapy, and meditation helps a lot. I know it's not easy but don't forget exercising (at least a walk) preferrably in sunlight and socializing. If you are clinically diagnosed with depression stay away from booze and drugs. I can't emphasize this enough: you are still young. You can manage it.

Been married over 30 years, my wife said she’s never known me to be happy. Of course not, I’m married.

I think a lot of us have been there OP. What do you think has contributed to it?

Talk to someone, trust me. I'm 52 now and I was 46 before I accepted that not talking about stuff was the wrong thing to do. It's fine to accept that you need help, professional help preferably. It's no different from going to the doctor because you broke your arm.

you dont even know what depression is. go get a life

wow, op, so, I understand you have internet connection, smart device, and electricity. It could be presumed you also have streets, lighting, sewage, and protection from the weather. It could be guessed you also have environmental controls, fire and medical emergency services. So that means you are deliberately ignoring your local mental health services in your area. And your biggest complaint is there is no one you can tell?

Sometimes it's better to actually feel the emotions. Don't suppress it. Crying is healing

26 yo here. Been there. Just find yourself a friend or girlfriend. It will be a lot easier to share the stories. I use to drink when I'm depressed. It takes the pain away

OP I think you need help, life can be tough but you need to try to keep seeing it with a positive eye, things can always become worse. With time you'll get your feelings back and when you get better, next time try to find what made you start to go downhill and try to make changes so it have less chances to happen again. Life is a succession of trials and errors, what makes you succeed eventually is getting back up, thinking and trying again.
